The sexy fighting game character. Everyone loves ’em! The problem is however turns out a lot of these style of character are actually much more difficult to use than a normal character and as soon as someone who said that’s their “main”, when they play them they are scared off! So lets talk about this long standing crazy thing in fighting games.

0:00 – Popular characters nobody plays
2:04 – Baiken
4:17 – Juri
7:20 – Angel
12:19 – What’s the lesson?

  1. As a Main Angel i can confirm that study for test is more easy than playing with her and more rewarding

  2. i liked Juri because I used to use Hwoarang in Tekken their move sets translated well for me idc about her looks it was always the last thing I cared about but not the teenage me and Baiken in guilty gear on psp lol venom became my replacement for her later once I understood the controls better.

  3. I remember the No Mai No Buy bullshit that happen like years ago man that was the most stupidest thing I've heard and seen years I'm glad that shit is dead

  4. Huh, I always thought Angel was a grappler which… I’m trying to think, is she? Or is she some other archetype?

  5. Imagine not spending sweaty hours learning how to make your waifu a lethal weapon no matter the cost

  6. One thing this video doesn't mention is how truly scary are the real mains of these characters:

Good Baikens never willfully get priority unless is to bait, and this means you can't rush into her, try to get a projectile hit and even try to poke her because you know she can AND will counter everything you throw at her.

Yuri with her special imput basically doesn't follow the rules of the game everyone else plays, like he said. In both SF IV and V she essentially screws over anyone who can't/doesn't know how to counter her, and so any character that isn't a Zoner is gonna have an hard time.

  7. Title : Ultra Popular Fighting Game characters that nobody actually plays.
Actual Content : Popular characters that are difficult to play.

  8. Juri imo plays more like a KOF character in Street Fighter's system, she reminds me of Kyo and Iori with the way you chain her specials with normals.

  9. Just wanted to say thank you for not addressing your audience as "hey guys" and not describing the people who are into sexy female characters "dudes". As a Baiken main* and not a guy, it feels good to exist sometimes.

    * doesn't play GG

  10. funnily enough, juri and baiken are two of my mains because i love their play styles and how they look overall and how they flow in combat, for the lasts i don't play the games so yeah

  11. Ahhh yesss Angel, the fact that she difficult to Mastered, even the computer don't know how to use her. Remember when i play the kof 2002, first time in my life play this game in the series, a character never Lay a single hit on me

  12. thats a bold statement about Baiken, my brother has been playing her since Reload and ive been playing Angel since 2002 and still main her in 15 her and Shermie

  13. While I agree,I am not 100% sure that you will know for sure which characters will be hugely popular in advance. After the fact it is easy to explain why but before not so sure.

  14. I tried getting into Zato-1 when i got strive because I thought Eddie was funny but quickly found his negative edge stuff hard to learn.

  15. So like… let me get this straight? Is Angel basically like a Killer Instinct character? Because as someone that likes KI that actually sounds really fun honestly.

  16. Man, I wish I could have played Baiken during Xrd, I actually really liked how she uses all of her parries and stuff

  17. These girls are playing a different game because they have a different audience. Please don’t tell me that Manon will be impossibly impractical to use.

  18. Weird suggestion: if you want to play Bakken on a VERY easy, beginner level use of the character, go play Samurai Shodown 2019. Her commands are straight forward and easy to execute, pretty versatile kit, and slower paced to compliment the theme of the game. It may not be as exciting as Guilty Gear, but it may be an easier start for the appeal of fighting games, learn the importance of fundamentals and basics, etc. I play it less often than my other favorite games, but this is worth a mention and a try.

  19. The irony.
-Casual finds sexy character appealing to play.
-Casual buys and plays said game to play character.
-Casual runs away because "She's too hard to get" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
    -Faker lacking commitment.

Just kidding. Fighting games aren't for everyone, but I wouldn't claim to be a main until you put in some time under your belt on using them. There's not a problem with liking a character, but don't claim to play only to be lame and get slammed.

  20. Pretty bad play from the designers tbh. You'd want to pull new players into your game with these sexy characters but you would also want to retain them for as long as possible so that they potentially become addicted and buy DLCs / next entries. The most popular characters should also be the most braindead (something like scorpion in MK) to retain those new players.

  21. Angel wasn't that difficult to use, Hinako's 1 frame link between punches are way more harder to use. Also May Lee feels harder than Angel as well. Angel isn't that bad to use at all

  22. I've only been able to get into fighting games once they toned down the sex appeal- it's that it almost halfway short-circuits my brain. I don't want to be thinking about sex, I want to be playing a fighting game. When MK11 actually toned it down compared to previous fighters, I could really start to enjoy the actual fighting mechanics!

  23. Y'know speaking of Guilty Gear, I'm now watching this video after they recently announced "That Man" as a playable character in Strive. One of the most pivotal characters in the Guilty Gear lore yet one look at his (ahem) moveset and you can already tell only a fraction of the player base will bother "maining him", the rest will just simply regret paying seven bucks for a character they can't even use decently let alone well XDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD

Also everything you said from the 12:20 mark was on freakin' point XD

  24. Just saying im new to fighting games(mainly playing league, a decent amount of smash and shooters) and i fucking love negative edge its so cool to have this buffer mechanic(playing zato in ggst). Im not good at it but its so rewarding

  25. It's so funny watching this after SF6's release, I see SO MANY actual Juri mains online. I get it though, she's a lot more "normal" in 6.

  26. Really? So few people play Lucia in SF V? But she actually IS my main!

  27. funny how this video got recommended today, hu. <3 love it

  28. almost a year later updateAngel is just as difficult as ever in KoF XV, however Baiken got ultra simplified and she got turned into a offensive pressure kinda character with her entire defensive portfolio simplified into one basic counter. I guess arcsys wants to turn "baiken mains" into actual baiken mains. No SF6 yet so we will have to see about juri :-0

  29. The new 3D Angel looks like someone who cosplays the real 2D Angel. For some reason japanese devs are much better at giving female characters substance using 2D sprites rather than 3D models.

  30. Except those are actually kind of popular. Juri is always in the top half of the most used characters in capcom page, Angel and Baiken are always popular in non official pages and you always find them online. It would be a decent point if the example given was Menat or something.

  31. i main juri😥😥😥😢😢😢😢

  32. Wait so baiken has to wait and deflect like a one armed Wolf?

  33. Person A: why do you always main the sexy characters
Person B: it has the tactical advantage of distraction
Person A: and who does it distract
    Person B: me

  34. Juri is a weird one I used to see ALOT of Juri's online in SF4 but was playing at a really low level and besides infiltration busting her out I dont really remember many tournament Juris during the SF4 era. SFV her issues are obvious with the way the stores work, though I do think she is a decently strong character in SFV, dont see her nearly as much online compared to SF4 and again only really remember infiltration doing anything with her in tournaments.

  35. Can’t believe Potemkin and zangeif weren’t on this sex appeal list smh

  36. I can't judge too hard, I inadvertently did this for SF5 until Kage was added, but I can at least play my "Boycott til they're added" character

  37. I main Juri in SF4 but I don't simp for her. Am I weird?

  38. I'm Juri main and I don't care how she played. If a Street Fighter game has Juri, then I care about that game. 😛

  39. I'm new to fighting games and baiken seems fucking sick. I got rev 2 on sale last week and after messing around in training mode I can't wait to piss people off with counters.

  40. So I have been thinking about this phenomenon in fighting games. The super popular sexy character everyone loves(and everyone says they "main") but the second they try to go at the character, its way too hard! What is it with these characters that easily draw people in, but are actually way harder to use than normal?

  41. As someone who actually mained Baiken in Xrd, and is now planning to main her in Strive, this hurts to hear lmao
