It’s time for an UPDATED list of my top 5 fighting games of all time. A few years back I made a top 5 video just like this one, but now I’ve changed the list just a TINY bit. Let me know what you guys think of my list and tell me in the comments below what are your top 5 fighting games!

SF V is plane garbage. It's less crappy now, yeah but crappy still… And i do play the game
MvC saga though it might be fun those games are broken af c'mon man u know better than that.
On my fg olympus I have kof 13, SF IV, sf 3rd strike, GG acc core and probably skull girl. That 's a decent top 5
5: Guilty gear strive
4: tekken 7
3: under night in-birth
2: Street fighter 2
1: Dragon ball fighterz
Dbfz is the funnest, craziest, and most approachable fighting game I’ve ever played. Definitely not the most balanced one but I still love it to death
I know why Street Fighter 3 is not in his top 5….
Here's my countdown…… #5-Killer Instinct GOLD #4-Virtua Fighter 4 #3-CvS2 #2-Fighter's Destiny ….and #1……Street Fighter 2…was there any doubt?
Justin…Play Fighter's Destiny for n64
I agree, sfv season 5 is rly good.
Sf5 could have been recognized as one of the best if it didn't have such a horrible launch. It still haunts it to this day, but sf5 is actually really, really good now.
1. Street Fighter III: Third Strike
2. Garou: Mark of the Wolves
3. Super Street Fighter II Turbo
4. Capcom Vs. SNK 2
5. Samurai Shodown II
This is my list (8 Sep 2021): MvC2, Street Fighter 2 Championship, Tekken 7, Killer instinct and Soul Calibur 2. I intentionally didn't repeat series.
Justin Wong, an OG pantheon member of MVC2, picking his game of choice as best? Shocking. LOL
Jokes aside, this game has amazing staying power… not sure what it is/was about games from the late 90s to early 2000s, but there are so many that have Black Air Force energy!
Wow…. Top 5. This is like choosing your favorite kid. But I’ll do my best. Here we go.
#5 Ultra Street Fighter IV
For me, this is a game that just does everything right. Online is fine, but it’s such a blast playing local multi-player. On top of that, it’s got a huge cast of 44 fighters and lots to constantly learn. I just have so much fun with it. Ultra is only an extension of Super Arcade Edition, but either title is great for me.
#4 Samurai Shodown 2
This game is classic. Yeah, the sequels added enough to make the series “more,” but this was such a groundbreaking game that proved strategy over button mashing was important in play in an era that favored mashing. Definitely an all time great.
#3 Tekken 5
This was my favorite Tekken game back in the day and has never been topped. The characters were great and there was so much to do. Too bad it never was given an online element as to it being a PS2 game, but it was top tier for the system when it comes to fighters. I would love to see it in HD.
#2 Virtua Fighter 5 Online
The best Virtua Fighter has ever looked or played. Yeah, I know Ultimate Showdown does most of what VF5 did, but the Kummite mode was outstanding in offline single player. It allowed for full customization of character looks and the level of depth in the fighting moves is second to none. This game has an abyss of depth when it comes to learning curve. And it is worth the time it takes to get really good. You truly get attached to characters because so much is involved in mastering their moves along with the customization. Pai will always be a favorite.
#1 Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
I almost feel guilty putting two Street Fighter games in this list, but it’s hard to deny the greatness of this title. The moves and Parry system are incredibly deep and complex. The characters from SF II (Ryu, Ken, Akuma, and with Chun Li added to the roster for 3rd Strike) really make this feel like a Street Fighter game, which both early iterations lacked. This may be even more true now because so much of this roster has been added to SF IV and SF V. To this day, I still can’t think of another 2D fighter that is more of a joy to look at. Silky animation and gorgeous design make it beautiful even in the modern era. Also, to be good at SFIII 3rd, you have to have actual, genuine skill. Few games are as demanding or rewarding as Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Even among Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, it holds up as the supreme 2D fighter.
That’s my list. I am old-school so I bet people will pick it apart. Soul Blade and Dead or Alive 2 almost made the list. But, as I said at the beginning, this wasn’t easy for me to pick out.
I love fighting games and would love to keep the appreciation of the genre up. There are so many great games out there to be enjoyed and I truly hope fighting game fans yell loud enough to shout down the D.O.T.A. 2 and Fortnight crowd. Fighting games are where it’s at!
Let the attacking begin.
What about Alpha 2?
My top 5 has gotta be
5. SSV
4. DBFZ
3. TEKKEN7
2. GUILTY GEAR STRIVE
1. Capcom vs SNK 2
What about Tekken?
this most accepting but at the same time least accepting comment section
List is okay and although I enjoy and appreciate more modern fighting games I personally believe they are nerfed for casuals and that the retro stuff just plays better to me overall. My top 5 are
5. Killer instinct (Classic arcade not the button mashing 2013 game)
4. Samurai Shodown 4 (Love the slash and bust system, love the aesthetics of the game, the gore, the rage explosion which adds depth to the game, the cd combos that should’ve been in other samurai Shodown games and the roster is a great balance and not too over exposed)
3. Virtua fighter 2 (Game still blows my mind, put more hours into this game than any fighting game and 3d fighting games in general deserve more love in these lists.)
2. Street fighter alpha 3 (Used to love alpha 2 better but the isms really added a lot of depth to the game more than people give it credit for plus I like that there’s a guard meter so you can’t spam blocks and alpha counters are not as cheap because of the guard meter)
1.Marvel vs capcom 2 (there isn’t anything I can say that people haven’t already said about the game)
Tekken 7,Street Fighter II Grand Master Challenge,Kof 2002,Street Fighter Alpha 2 or Sf V ( cant decide ) Darkstalkers <3
1 Skullgirls
2 Samurai Shodown 2019 or VSP (honestly it is so hard to choose…)
3 King Of Fighters 2002 UM
4 Street Fighter V CE (best than old SFs, and god if I loved SSF2T but SFV CE NOW has the best gameplay of entire series imho)
5 Ultimate Mortal Kombat XI (has dethroned Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3)
honorable mention : Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Plus…
I tested numerous fighting games but I didn't touch any Guilty Gear for the moment, maybe this top is going to change when I'll play Strive or XRD rev2.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is super iconic

No question Tekken 7 is my all time favorite.
While I agree with most of this list. FighterZ or Street fighter X Tekken should replace ultimate MvC in the top 5 ( I'd probably put FighterZ around 7 in front of any MvC game ). Those two are just too hype, never been a fan of MvC just my opinion

4.) UMvC 3
3.) Mortal Kombat 9
2.) King of Fighters 02 UM
1.) Darkstalker 3
Street Fighter V I can't get over the fact that release was SO bad. Like it wasn't just the fact it was barely any content, it was the fact Capcom announced DLC in that state, and it just came off like they wanted to start monotizing asap instead of finishing their game. Like the big thing that was really notable to me in gameplay was it needed more play testing for balance, and figured they could just do that with pro players. Like the dp change i think they could have caught if the designers had more time before release. It just all around seemed scummy on Capcom's end, and I'm not ever gonna let anyone forget that cause that behavior shouldn't be normalized.
Who payed you to say street fighter V is a great game xD?
I am still waiting for Jwonggg to play some TMNT Tournament fighter online.
5. Marvel vs Capcom 2
4. Tekken 5
3. Soul Calibur 2
2. Ultra Street Fighter 4
1. Mortal Kombat (2009)
My Top 5 (no order):
Project M; USF4; MvC2; Fantasy Strike; SFII':HF.
I also played SFV for the first time recently and I really enjoyed it. IMO, it really captures the essence of a Street Fighter game. I need to play it more, but I suspect it would climb up to the Top 10 of my favorite FGs list, at the least.
5. MvC2
4. KoF 2000
3. CvS2
2. HSF2
1. SSBU
My top 5 are
Smash ultimate
Tekken 3
Street fighter 4
Marvel vs Capcom 2
BlazBlue central fiction
